Ongeacht deze klassering blijft het feit dat alle houtsoorten uitzetten en krimpen als ze nat worden, waardoor\u00a0er schade ontstaat.<\/p>\n<p>Hoewel sommige houtsoorten de reputatie hebben waterdicht te zijn, betekent het niet dat ze waterafstotend zijn. Klasse 1 is de meest duurzame houtsoort, 5 wordt beschouwd als niet duurzaam.<\/p>\n<p>Duurzaam hout gaat wel 15 tot 25 jaar of langer mee zonder te worden behandeld. Dit hout gaat onbehandeld wel 25 jaar of mee en is zeer duurzaam. Wordt veel gebruikt voor funderingen en beschoeiing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Klasse 2 hout<\/strong>\u00a0is bijvoorbeeld Western Cedar hout. Deze houtsoort kan tot 15 a 25 jaar meegaan en wordt geclassificeerd als duurzaam . Cedar hout wordt veel gebruikt op gevels (rabatdelen) en voor schuttingen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Klasse 3 hout<\/strong>\u00a0is o.a. Douglas hout (ook wel Lariks hout genoemd), ge\u00efmpregneerd Vuren en\u00a0Grenen. Deze houtsoorten gaan 8 tot 15 jaar mee en zijn matig duurzaam.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Klasse 4 hout<\/strong>\u00a0is onbehandeld Grenen en Vurenhout, welke maximaal 8 jaar meegaan. Deze houtsoorten moeten altijd behandeld worden om de levensduur te verlengen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Klasse 5\u00a0hout<\/strong>\u00a0zijn berken en populieren. Maar worden na verloop van tijd toch vuil, dit hout zal op de helft van de levensduur al flink aan onderhoud toe zijn.
